hile in a time of social distancing, having a toolbox of engagement tactics is crucial. Ellery is looking at ways to increase how we engage with  clients and project partners, much of which will stick with us beyond COVID.

Seemingly everyone knows about Zoom now: the videoconferencing software company that went public last year is keeping us all connected during the pandemic. Its use has become invaluable in the tendering space with numerous strategy workshops and updates being held on the platform.

Although a small tactic in the big picture, Zoom’s virtual background function is a useful touchpoint for brand and tender team engagement. Recently we used the background to customise a bid brand and win theme to the wider team. It helped as part of a wider communications arsenal, to foster a clear understanding of our bid strategy and brand personality.

While Ellery Studios can help create a series of backgrounds – we don’t think they are too complicated for people to do themselves. Simply open up a large canvas in powerpoint, design as you wish, perhaps use your corporate or bid branding, then save as a high res jpeg - or - even a movie (.mov) file.

Here are some images you can use as a start to customise your background. Our favourites are the space shots, courtesy of NASA.

Create a killer digital strategy

According to data from HubSpot, only 61% of marketers surveyed think their marketing strategy is ineffective (hubspot.com/marketing-statistics). If you're part of that 61% and want to improve your efficiency, it is imperative you adjust your strategy creation process. Businesses with a sound marketing strategy in place are much likelier to enjoy increased sales as well as improved brand recognition. In an increasingly noisy business environment (hello global competitors thanks to mobile technology), it is companies with a well-honed marketing strategy that will succeed.
